Mechanical Planner (REf: EP1001752)
(U.A.E. - Abu Dhabi)

Responsibilities:
Basic Functions

  • To collect, review and discuss work order inputs, resource requirements etc. with concerned departments to prepare and monitor work programmes for repair, preventive and predictive, plant shutdowns and turnarounds. To plan for required resources and infrastructure to ensure timely availability.

    Main Work Performed and Responsibilities:

  • Checks incoming work requests for completeness and interacts with Operations Supervisor to assess job status in the field before finalizing plan.
  • Determines requirements for resourses such as manpower, skills, estimated man hours, material, spares, and special support devices such as cranes, forklits …etc in order to plan and requisition for the same.
  • Uses the computer system to maximum advantage by generating schedules, regular reports and analyses.
  • Works towards producing standard templates for work orders, work plans etc to ensure systematic data presentation and maintenance. Contributes to improving existing systems and procedures in order to facilitate performance measurements.
  • Aquires all information and inputs from originators of work requests to prepare a resource plan for required resources so that timely availability can be assured.
  • Reviews work priorities with concerned Operations Supervisor to assess backlog work, and to schedule preventive/predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programmes. Follows up on work progress to minimise variation from plan.
  • Maintains information on backlog jobs pending due to resource unavailability, shutdown etc. and follows up with concerned department to expedite work.
  • Reviews requirements for plant shutdown, dicusses details with engineers and department heads and prepares consolidated worklists for shutdown as well as preliminary estimates of manpower and material.
  • Maintains data in the computer system on maintenance work carried out, manpower and time utilised , personnel availability, spare parts used etc. and updates regularly for accurate reference.
  • Prepares regular performance reports, status reports etc. using the computerised system to maximum advantage.

    WORK CONTACTS

  • Daily work contacts with various Plant Availability departments and with operations personnel ( especially the originators of work orders) to discuss maintenance requirements, resource requirements, spare parts availability, manpower, programmes for shutdown etc.
  • Follows up on the implementation of work programme and liases with concerned parties to expedite work.

    Supervisory Responsibility

  • No sub-ordinates

    INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATION and Decision Making Authority

  • Responsible for collecting, analysing and collating information on all aspects of work orders and preparing maintenance schedules and programmes. Utilises the computerised system in the best possible manner and ensures data management, data security, data input and standard templates to minimise wastage of time and carry out effective implementation.
  • Performance is reviewed by the Planning & Spares Manager.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Based in the production plant at Ruwais. Moves between Operations department and Plant Availability departments and during these times is exposed to plant conditions and weather extremes.

    Requirements:B.Sc degree or equivalent technical qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrument). On-the-job training in maintenance and planning in the petrochemical industry or oil/gas industry. Good understanding of maintenance requirements in terms of resources, infrastructure, spare parts, etc. Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system. Good Planning and communication skills. 7-8 years work experience in this area of work.
